Rehabilitation works begin at Beato Co-Living, a future "corporate housing" space
The rehabilitation work on Beato Co-Living has begun. Located in the Unicorn Factory Lisboa - Beato Innovation District, this project, promoted by the Mota-Engil Group and Mota-Engil Emerge, is designed to provide temporary collaborative housing for professionals seeking Lisbon as a destination for work, entrepreneurship, technology, and innovation.
The former Convento das Grilas building, later transformed into an Officers' Residence during the period of operation of the defunct Military Maintenance under the name Edifício do Relógio (Clock Building), will, after its rehabilitation, feature 84 temporary accommodation units of various types, 137 rooms, distributed over four floors, with common areas such as shared kitchens, laundry, living rooms and terraces, spaces designed to allow sharing, conviviality and a sense of community.
With the involvement of the Promontório architecture firm, the rehabilitation process of this building will preserve original historical elements such as facades, staircases, and vaults, combining the transformation of a historic building over 350 years old with innovation, contemporary design, and sustainability.
The space is intended for medium-term shared housing, based on the "corporate housing" concept, such as for extended business trips or, for example, digital nomads working in Lisbon for extended periods.
