Developed by multidisciplinary artist Frederico Ferreira aka Fred, and in his own words, "Once Weapon a Time is an invitation to reflect on history.".
An exhibition that explores the territories between the seduction of war mechanisms, drawn on the edge that unites fascination with terror, and the terrible consequence of its outcome, manifested by the indifference that must be highlighted. To prevent this from happening, it would be necessary to see up close what so many feel so closely. Here there is no room for empathy, only the bombardment of that comfort that settles into contemplation.
Are we made of the pragmatism of destruction or the energy that brings dreams together?
Are we at the beginning or the end of history?
In each of the pieces scattered throughout the spaces of the Milling Factory, we can question this indifference. In the context of a complex of buildings developed for and by the war, where provisions were produced for the troops on the front lines, a territory of resistance is now established.
In each image, in each sculpture, there is a weapon that can be used against war. There is another story beyond the instruments that the screen glorifies, a subversion of the transmission of the present, so that moral doubt may be conveyed, timelessly.
Reimagining resistance is thinking. Manipulating materials as if the act itself were a counterattack for peace. Violating symbols to strip them of their destructive power. Arming the defense of the fable.
“Once Weapon a Time” opens on June 28th and is an invitation to reflect on history. Our history. The collective history. The history we can still tell. This is how we survive.
