Meetings at the Mill

In the second edition of the Encounters at the Mill, the Lisbon Museum - Milling Factory selected a theme indispensable to understanding industrial heritage – the oral history of the workers.

Entitled "Workers also matter. From memory to the museum ," this edition takes place in Lisbon and Lousal (Grândola), an initiative of the Lisbon Museum - Milling Factory, in partnership with the Mining Museum - Lousal Science Centre .

Over two days, the aim is to discuss together the importance of workers' memories in the construction of museographic content, from an interdisciplinary perspective.

The event will also seek to address the human dimension in the world of work, going beyond the material scope of cultural heritage. To this end, former workers from the Military Maintenance and Lousal Mines, specialists and scholars on work and on some industrial museums will be present.

In addition to the presentations, the program includes workshops and visits, culminating in the launch of the first issue of the journal Encontros na Moagem, which publishes the texts of the presentations given at the first edition of these Encounters, held in 2024, dedicated to the theme of Conservation and Restoration of Industrial Heritage.

Participation is free for those 16 years of age and older, upon registration at this link .
