“Tradition and Sustainability: Leveraging Traditions to Innovate Sustainably” is an initiative promoted by “Ressonâncias”, an emerging socio-cultural project based in Lisbon, committed to promoting new perspectives, knowledge and alternative and sustainable practices, always aligned with current social and environmental challenges. 

Between May 31st and June 1st, at the Beato Innovation District Pasta Factory, you can visit and participate in a series of initiatives about the future of traditional know-how.


Free entry to all events in the program.

Exhibition

An exhibition that explores how innovative projects in Portugal reconcile ancestral knowledge with modern innovations to address current challenges in cultural preservation, environmental sustainability, and social responsibility. This demonstrates that tradition and sustainability are not necessarily opposed; on the contrary, past knowledge can be revisited and enriched by contemporary advancements and current knowledge.

May 29th, Thursday - 12 PM to 2 PM and 3 PM to 7 PM

May 30th, Friday - 12 PM to 2 PM and 3 PM to 7 PM

May 31st, Saturday - from 12 PM to 7 PM

Closing Session

🎤 Sunday 01/06

Meeting with 3 project leaders and live demonstrations.

A project presentation session and closing of the exhibition. A unique event with three project leaders who will present their innovative creations that combine traditional and contemporary knowledge for sustainable manufacturing.

4:00 PM - TASA Project: Innovating artisanal techniques at risk of disappearing

  • Presentation of the TASA Project, highlighting innovation in crafts through design, in collaboration with local artisans to revitalize traditional techniques in southern Portugal;

  • Reflection on professions on the verge of extinction;

  • Launch of a new piece created with a threatened technique.


4:30 PM - CRU Workshop : Development of finishing materials for architectural projects, using clay and fibers.

  • Presentation of this initiative focusing on responsible architectural practices.

  • An overview of the technical support provided and the work carried out using specific local materials and traditional construction techniques.


5:00 PM - Ecolã: a century-old tradition and sustainable innovation in 100% wool products

  • Presentation of the history of Ecolã, a family business founded in 1925 and specializing in the production of pure wool textiles.

  • Discussion about the increasing value of Portuguese wool in international markets.


5:30 PM - Roundtable Discussion

Interactive question and answer session with the audience


6:00 PM - Closing

Final considerations and acknowledgments

👩🏻‍🎨 Alongside these presentations, an artist from the TASA Project will be giving a continuous live demonstration starting in the afternoon.
