For five days, Magalie Lanriot and Roel Q. Seeber will co-teach a Vertical Dance workshop, centered on the artistic research they have been developing together. This collaboration between Magalie, who resides in Portugal, and Roel, who resides in San Francisco, has been ongoing for several years.
This partnership aims to foster a new creative dynamic that contributes to the development of Vertical Dance in Europe, while strengthening cultural ties with the United States.
The event aims to transcend a fixed choreographic language, opening space for a more sensitive and poetic territory, guided by listening, intuition, and connection with others. Through improvised scores, participants will be led through dynamics of impulse, spatial orientation, and exploration of the physics of the encounter between bodies—whether on the wall, in the air, or during a fall. The intention is to deepen the relationship with gravity and with the wall as a partner in movement, promoting a fluidity of contact and presence.
About the duo Magalie Lanriot and Roel Q. Seeber
Despite being separated by almost ten thousand kilometers, Magalie and Roel found a deep affinity in their artistic approaches. This collaboration has allowed them to consolidate similarities, value differences, and create a fertile space for improvisation. Today, they are recognized as two of the leading trendsetters in Vertical Dance, each with a unique movement vocabulary developed over years of practice and strongly anchored in emotional expression and narrative.
Coming from different backgrounds, they have managed, over the last few years, to open new paths and develop innovative techniques in Vertical Dance. This partnership represents a high potential for international projection, and this event is another important step in the creative journey they have been building.
