In a four-day workshop, Magalie Lanriot and Roel Q Seeber will jointly present material drawn from their individual research, as well as from the creative work they have been exploring together. The course focuses on collaborations, with an emphasis on contact improvisation.

This vertical dance event is designed to expand capacity, awareness, and confidence in partnership on a big wall. Dancers will explore their relationship with gravity, time, and the wall through harness and rope. Dancers will explore momentum, spatial orientation, and the physics of bodies in the air, on the wall, and in the sky.

About Magalie Lanriot and Roel Q. Seeber

Separated by almost ten thousand kilometers, Magalie Lanriot and Roel Q. Seeber met three years ago in London during a vertical dance workshop organized by Lindsey Butcher. They immediately discovered resonances in their artistic approaches, reinforcing their similarities and complementing each other in their differences.

Together, they opened new spaces for improvisation and inspired a sensitive and original approach to vertical dance. Both coming from contemporary dance backgrounds, they developed a unique movement vocabulary over years of practice, always emphasizing the quality of movement, emotional expression, and narrative in their performances.

Their collaboration over the past few years has forged new expressions and techniques for vertical dance, giving the duo international visibility and building a cultural bridge between different communities in Europe and the United States.
