Between February 28 and March 1, 2026, the Beato Innovation District will host a creative video game development marathon organized by the global Hack Club community, with the Campfire Lisbon .
The event, which is part of an international movement of game jams taking place in over 200 cities simultaneously, invites young enthusiasts of programming, design, and digital creativity to collaborate intensively for 24 hours to build original video games, bringing together beginners and emerging talents in technology to learn, create, and share innovative experiences.
“This type of initiative is not just about developing a game,” the organization states, “it’s about creating a community around technology, collaboration, and hands-on learning in programming.”.
The game jam is geared towards primary and secondary school students, but is open to anyone who wants to experience the creative process of coding and game design in a stimulating and inclusive environment. Participants work in teams to design, prototype, and complete games within a limited time, strengthening technical skills and soft skills such as teamwork, problem-solving, and critical thinking.
Game jams like this one stand out for their ability to catalyze young talent and foster connections between students, mentors, organizations, and potential employers in the technology sector.
The event is free and includes introductory workshops on game creation tools and final presentation sessions where teams present their projects to a wider community.
