ARE 2026 - Artistic Research Exhibition
The Artistic Research Exhibition (ARE) 2026 - Unstable Grounds: Artistic Research Lines of Flight is an international exhibition dedicated to contemporary artistic research, integrated into the European project WIRE by FilmEU , developed within the framework of the FilmEU – European University .
The exhibition brings together artistic and audiovisual projects that explore the relationship between artistic creation and knowledge production, showcasing works by emerging artists and researchers from diverse European regions and other continents. Selected through an call and complemented by research projects funded under WIRE, the works presented reflect the vitality and diversity of contemporary artistic practices, affirming ARE as a space for critical experimentation and public presentation of transdisciplinary artistic approaches.
The 2026 edition proposes a reflection on different forms of contemporary instability – from artificial intelligence and digital surveillance to the ecological crisis and political tensions – showcasing works that transform uncertainty into creative impulse and explore new possibilities for the relationship between art, technology, and society.
With international participation and a hybrid format – a physical exhibition in Lisbon and an online platform – ARE 2026 offers the public the opportunity to engage with innovative projects in the field of artistic research and to discover new languages at the intersection of art, media, and critical thinking. The exhibition will take place at the Confeitaria and the Fábrica da Moagem , spaces integrated into the historic Beato industrial complex, expanding the dialogue between contemporary creation, industrial heritage, and artistic experimentation.
